So my new blog "Noticias y Sociedad" is the newest addition to a long lineage of infamously short lived blogs. The name of my blog was stolen from, errr, inspired by an activity in my Spanish textbook meaning News and Society, which I actually forgot to do recently! Hahaha. I'm hoping that with my new camera, courtesy of the awesome Van and Ha, I can bring this blog where none of my blogs have ever been.....the DOUBLE DIGITS.
So Mai came down to Austin this past weekend to go to VSA's Annual Convention. I've been getting a lot of visitors these past weeks, the whole family, Anh Don and Chi Ha, and now Mai. Even though I'm pretty much the secondary reasons people visit Austin I don't mind, it's an excuse to
EAT hahaha. After a grueling Friday consisting of spanish homework, a stats test and a biology exam review, I met up with Mai in PCL, dropped off all her luggage in my room, and took her to do a little perusing at Urban Outfitters to kill some time before dinner.

After killing enough time, we decided to head on over to Hooters for a lofty, high class dinner. We rode the bus down south to Riverside and I was happy that we ended up at our correct destination, since I've had a history of going on odd bus routes before! The two of us shared 10 hot and 10 mild wings and, thanks to my birthday coupon, got 10 of the wings for free. Couponing FTW!!

We headed back to Jester after our fat free feast and watched random television shows and a bit of Awake until my bandwidth gave out hahah. Mai then gave me my awesome birthday presents, which I had accidentally found discovered before she gave them to me lol.

Afterwards, it was lights out with the help of Tylenol PM and my friend Linh, who let me use an extra comforter and blanket she had as plank cushion, though carrying a bright purple blanket from the 11th floor to the 6th floor isn't the coolest thing to do in the world :P
The next day, Mai went to the VSA convention which lasted until about 5. I really wanted to go but I knew that the time would be better spent studying for my upcoming biology test. I joined Megan in the PCL and though I intended to study, I decided to start up this blog instead haha. I don't know what's gotten into me this semester but I've just gotten lazy! I've gotten a lot better about studying now since I began late night study groups with Megan and Linh so hopefully we keep this trend going :) After Mai finished with Convention, we decided to grab some grub at Madam Mams!

A heap of Pad Thai!

| Beef Fried Rice! Drooling rn |
The Pad Thai wasn't as good as the first time I had it but the Fried Rice was amazing! It's a nice change from the vats of fried rice that mom made which are in my freezer right now (2 down, 2 to go). After that we headed to Juicy Tart to grab some Green Tea Yogurt for dessert. They've recently abolished the eyeballing system with the more tradition weighing system so Mai couldn't flirt with the cashier and get a discount like last time :P After a bit more lounging around and some more bad TV, Mai had to head back to CStat that night. Hope you had a great time in Austin and cant wait to see what College Station is like soon! :)
Your camera is so kewl. And damn, I want some Hooters now...
ReplyDeleteYou won't be too impressed with Cstat lol. But I'll try! I love the pic you took of the dead eyed fish. XD
